The SOLIDWORKS processor: the choice for performance
SOLIDWORKS benefits significantly from the performance of each processor core.
For standard modeling operations, part rebuilding, and assembly manipulation, a recent processor with a high frequency will often be more beneficial than a model with many cores that runs more slowly.
A recent Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 is suitable for the majority of designers. Core i9 and Ryzen 9 models become relevant when the user works on large assemblies, frequently performs calculations, or wishes to keep their computer for several years.
For SOLIDWORKS Simulation, Visualize, and certain rendering tasks, a processor with more cores can, however, provide a greater gain. The choice should therefore be made based on the actual use of the software, and not solely on the processor’s commercial name.
SOLIDWORKS RAM: memory at the service of your creations
RAM directly influences the fluidity of SOLIDWORKS when multiple parts, assemblies, drawings, or software programs are open at the same time. An insufficient amount of RAM forces the computer to use the disk more, which causes slowdowns.

A graphics card intended for gaming, such as an NVIDIA GeForce, can sometimes run SOLIDWORKS correctly. However, it does not necessarily benefit from the same level of certification, stability, or support. For occasional use, this may be acceptable.
